Limited-Edition OREO Flavors: What Comes and Goes

The Short Answer

Limited-edition OREO flavors are short runs sold for a limited time, while supplies last. As of November 2026, oreo.com lists Apple Pie a la Mode and Orange Creme Halloween as limited editions. Pumpkin Spice returned in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and S’mOREO returned in 2025 and 2026, while Watermelon, Cherry Cola, and Marshmallow Moon have not returned. OREO rarely announces an end date. This page covers the US product only.

What “Limited Edition” Means at OREO

Limited Edition vs Seasonal vs Limited Time

On oreo.com, “Limited Edition” appears in the product title itself — for example, “Apple Pie a la Mode Sandwich Cookies, Limited Edition” and “Orange Creme Halloween Cookies, Limited Edition.” In press releases, OREO more often writes “for a limited time, while supplies last.” The word “seasonal” appears in trade press, for example for the Gingerbread Cakesters launch, rather than in oreo.com product titles found for this page. This page uses “limited edition” only for products that oreo.com or an official source labels that way, and “seasonal” only for flavors that have returned in a regular season, such as Pumpkin Spice in the fall.

“While Supplies Last” and No Announced End Date

Limited editions end when the run sells through. OREO often does not announce a discontinuation date, and no Mondelez press release was found for most of the flavors on this page — the one exception is The Most OREO OREO, announced by Mondelez in January 2023. The rest of the dates on this page rest on strong secondary sources, usually trade press or major outlets quoting a Mondelez or OREO spokesperson. Where no end date is verified, this page gives the last year a flavor was seen, not an end date, and says so plainly.

Limited-Edition Flavors on Sale Now

The table below gives the evidence for each flavor as checked on November 8, 2026. “On oreo.com” means the product page exists on oreo.com; it does not always mean the product is in stock. “Retailer/shelf evidence” means the flavor was found in a retailer listing or a shelf photo, but not confirmed on oreo.com.

Apple Pie a la Mode

Apple Pie a la Mode is a limited-edition sandwich cookie with apple pie and vanilla ice cream-flavored creme between vanilla wafers. It is listed on oreo.com as a limited edition and was InStock there on November 8, 2026.

Orange Creme Halloween

Orange Creme Halloween is a limited-edition cookie with orange-colored creme between chocolate wafers, with spooky designs on the wafer. It is listed on oreo.com as a limited edition and was InStock there on November 8, 2026.

S’mOREO

S’mOREO is the current name for the S’mores flavor: two layers of creme, one marshmallow and one chocolate, between graham-flavored wafers. It was first released as S’mores in May 2015 and renamed S’mOREO in 2023. The oreo.com page was last crawled on July 19, 2026, so its current stock status is not confirmed from oreo.com, but a retailer listing from early November 2026 shows it still sold.

Twist, Lick, Vote 2026

In August 2026, OREO released three new limited-edition flavors at once — Banana Pudding, Deep Fried, and Chicken & Waffles — and let fans vote for a winner. Presale began August 17, 2026, US retail followed on August 24, 2026, and voting ran until October 12, 2026. Banana Pudding won and was announced to return in spring 2027 for a limited time. That return is confirmed only through social reposts of the official OREO graphic; no oreo.com press release confirming the winner was found for this page.

Cinnamon Bun Returns

Cinnamon Bun returned in June and July 2026 after about ten years away, and was still listed at US retailers in early November 2026. It is a limited-edition return, not a permanent addition.

Espresso Creme Thins

Espresso Creme Thins is a Thins product, not a regular sandwich cookie: thin chocolate wafers with espresso creme. It was a one-batch, limited-edition release of 1,000 packs, with signup from October 20 to November 3, 2026, and a claim period through November 9, 2026. Whether packs remain after that date is unverified.

Seasonal Flavors That Return

Some limited editions come back in a regular season. No flavor is guaranteed to return every year, and this section gives only the years that were verified.

Pumpkin Spice

Pumpkin Spice first appeared in September 2014, with golden wafers and orange pumpkin-spice creme, and returned every fall through 2017. After a five-year absence, it returned on August 15, 2022, and again in fall 2023 and on August 12, 2024. Returns for 2025 and 2026 were not verified for this page, so this page does not claim an annual return in those years.

S’mOREO

S’mOREO, first released as S’mores in May 2015, has returned in 2019, May 2021, May 2023 (when it was renamed S’mOREO), April 7, 2025, and spring 2026. It has returned in several years, rather than being a permanent flavor.

Gingerbread and Hot Cocoa

Gingerbread first appeared in November 2012 as a Walmart exclusive, with golden wafers and gingerbread-flavored creme, and returned periodically in later holiday seasons, most recently in a reformulated version in September 2020, with a gingerbread-flavored cookie, classic creme, and crunchy sugar crystals. No sandwich-cookie return was found for 2021–2025. Do not confuse it with the Gingerbread Cakesters, a different soft-baked product launched in October 2026.

Hot Cocoa first appeared in October 2017, with hot cocoa and marshmallow-flavored creme, and returned in October 2023 after five years away. A 2024 return was reported by one listicle only and is treated as unverified here. A different flavor, Peppermint Hot Cocoa, was spotted in US stores in October 2026 — it is not the original Hot Cocoa.

Peppermint and Candy Cane

Peppermint first appeared in November 2011, with red peppermint-flavored creme between chocolate wafers, and returned in holiday seasons through 2015, the last year it was seen. Candy Cane, with red-and-white split creme and crunchy sprinkles, was sold for the Christmas season from at least 2008 and was last seen in November 2013. A different holiday flavor, Peppermint Bark, with peppermint creme and crunchy sugar crystals, was later introduced in October 2018 and returned in October 2019. The “Candy Cane” name returned in November 2026 only as a Post cereal, Candy Cane Oreo Puffs — a licensed cereal, not the cookie.

Discontinued Flavors That Have Not Returned

The flavors below are not listed on oreo.com as of November 2026, and no current retail listing was found for them. OREO rarely announces a discontinuation date, so the table gives the last year each flavor was seen, not an end date. Two exceptions have stronger confirmation: the original Lemon, discontinued in 1924, and Red Velvet, discontinued in 2020 with spokesperson-level confirmation.

Red Velvet

Red Velvet first appeared in February 2015, with red wafers and cream-cheese-flavored creme. It began as a limited edition but became a permanent addition, staying on shelves until it was discontinued in 2020. It returned on September 12, 2023, for a limited time, described by OREO as its most requested flavor. Shelf photos from October 2026 show a Red Velvet pack, but that is retailer/shelf evidence, unverified by oreo.com, and a “Red Velvet Strawberry Cheesecake” variant photographed at the same time is a different product.

The Most OREO OREO

The Most OREO OREO was released on January 30, 2023, with pre-sale on OREO.com from January 24, 2023. It had chocolate wafers with “Most Stuf” levels of creme containing real OREO grind, and launched alongside the OREOVERSE digital experience. It was a one-time limited edition and has not returned as the same product. Its concept lives on in OREO Loaded, launched January 3, 2025, as a permanent addition, with Mega Stuf-level creme mixed with OREO cookie pieces — a successor, not a return.

One-Time Curiosities

Watermelon (June 2013, Target exclusive), Root Beer Float (July 2014), and Marshmallow Moon (mid-June 2019, tied to the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, with purple marshmallow creme and glow-in-the-dark packaging) were each one-time limited editions that have never returned. Cherry Cola (April 30, 2018) was different: it won the #MyOreoCreation fan contest, and its creator won $500,000. It was a regular sandwich cookie with cherry-cola creme and popping candy, and it has not returned.

Collaborations: A Different Kind of Limited Edition

Collaborations fall into two kinds, and this page keeps them separate: new flavors, and the standard cookie with only the embossing or packaging changed.

New-Flavor Collaborations

Lady Gaga (Chromatica) was a new flavor: pink-colored Golden wafers with green-colored creme, in 6-cookie packs from January 2021 and full-size packs nationwide from January 28, 2021, while supplies last. Post Malone, announced January 22, 2025, was also a new flavor: a swirled creme combining salted caramel and shortbread, between one chocolate wafer and one golden wafer, with nine embossments chosen by Post Malone, at US retailers from February 3, 2025, for a limited time. Coca-Cola, announced August 13, 2024, was a two-product swap: the OREO Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookie, with one chocolate wafer infused with Coca-Cola syrup and one red-colored golden wafer around white creme with red popping candy, and the Coca-Cola OREO Zero Sugar drink, at US retailers from September 9, 2024, for a limited time.

Embossing and Packaging Collaborations

Pokémon, announced September 8, 2021, kept the standard cookie and added 16 unique Pokémon embossments, with the Mythical Pokémon Mew as the super-rare one, at US retailers from September 13, 2021, while supplies last. It returned in Asia in 2024, but that return was Asia-only, not a US return. Game of Thrones, from April 2019, kept the same filling as regular OREO and changed only the embossing — the sigils of Houses Lannister, Targaryen, and Stark, plus the Night King — and the packaging. Super Mario, announced June 26, 2023, added 16 embossments of Mario characters and power-ups, with Bowser the hardest to find, at US retailers from July 10, 2023, for a limited time only. Supreme, from March 2020, was a Double Stuf OREO with red wafers and the Supreme box logo stamped on the wafer, sold in packs of three through Supreme only, not grocery retail, and sold out quickly.

OREOiD: Custom Cookies, Not a Limited Edition

OREOiD is a customization service on oreo.com, not a flavor and not a limited-edition run. Launched in the United States in November 2020 for the holiday season, it lets customers design their own OREO cookies: a choice of base wafer, creme color, fudge dip, sprinkles, and a design printed on the wafer, including licensed designs such as Mickey and Friends. It was expected to remain active for the foreseeable future, and the oreo.com configurator was still operating as of November 2026. OREOiD cookies are made to order, sold only through oreo.com rather than grocery retail, and carry different allergen wording from standard OREO — “Contains: wheat, soy or milk.”

Flavors That Are Not Limited Editions

Several flavors are often listed as limited editions but are not. Java Chip has been permanent since its launch in January 2021. Chocolate Hazelnut was a limited edition in January 2018, with Golden wafers, then relaunched as a permanent flavor in January 2021, with chocolate wafers; no discontinuation has been verified. Fudge Covered is a permanent line since 1987 and appears still sold in the US. Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie has been permanent since its launch on June 4, 2018, and no reliable source verifies a discontinuation. The Most Stuf was limited in January 2019 and January 2020, then became a permanent product in late 2020 in 4-packs sold only in convenience and dollar stores. Tiramisu Thins is a permanent Thins flavor, announced as a permanent addition on March 4, 2024. Lemon Creme appears currently sold as a permanent Golden flavor as of October 2026; only the original lemon-cream OREO of 1920–1924 was a discontinued permanent flavor. White Fudge Covered is the seasonal variant of the Fudge Covered line, not the line itself.

Frequently asked questions

What limited-edition OREO flavors are available now?

As of November 2026, oreo.com lists Apple Pie a la Mode and Orange Creme Halloween as limited editions. S'mOREO is also listed on oreo.com, and the three Twist, Lick, Vote 2026 flavors — Banana Pudding, Deep Fried, and Chicken & Waffles — reached US retail in August 2026 for a limited time.

Which OREO flavors come back every year?

No flavor is guaranteed to return every year. Pumpkin Spice returned in 2022, 2023, and 2024, after a first run from 2014 to 2017, and S'mOREO has returned in 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025, and 2026. Returns for 2025 and 2026 Pumpkin Spice were not verified for this page.

Why do limited-edition OREO flavors disappear?

Limited editions are sold for a limited time, while supplies last, and OREO rarely announces an end date. When the run ends, the flavor leaves shelves without a discontinuation announcement, so this page reports the last year each flavor was seen rather than an end date.

Are OREO collaborations limited editions?

Yes, but they fall into two kinds. Some collaborations are new flavors, such as Lady Gaga, Post Malone, and Coca-Cola. Others keep the standard cookie and change only the embossing or packaging, such as Pokémon, Game of Thrones, Super Mario, and Supreme.

Is OREOiD a limited edition?

No. OREOiD is a standing customization service on oreo.com, launched in the United States in November 2020 and still operating as of November 2026. Customers design their own cookies with a choice of wafer, creme color, fudge dip, and printed design. It is not a flavor and not a limited-edition run.
